Saving lives with a Game about Covid-19

Analysis of the Game "Stop the virus"


This game, which aims to save lives by educating through the game, can only be programmed to be free an libre, if possible under the GNU GPL v2 or v3 license.

Goal

There is no vaccine, and the virus is spreading fast.
Your goal is to stop the virus protecting the largest number of contacts as possible. The more contacts not infected and the sooner you stop it, the better score.

Initial status

The number of contacts in the first screen is 20, without added difficulties.
In the next screens, the added difficulties increase step by step.

Screen description and Game mode

The contacts appear as a graph, linked between them. The contact is like a person watched from above.
The contacts get closer and further following an algorithm (to determine). In a given moment, the virus appears
in in random contact, the virus propagates as the contacts approach each other of they get into closed placed.
The propagation is shown by changing the color of the links, and the contagion by changing the color of the contact.


Always present actions

  • To isolate contacts pressing in the links, it can keep them isolated only 20 seconds.
  • To cure contacts pressing over them, this makes the virus propagate slower to the next contact.

Difficulties

  • Supercontagers: a contact with more than 10 links, which increases its number of links on each screen.
  • Closed places: Those who enter closed places will have a 90% chance of getting infected.
  • Demonstrations, riots, hurricanes, ....
  • Asymptomatic: The visual part of the contagion disappears, but it continues to spread.

Aids

  • Confinement. Only lasts 1 minute. After the first time it cannot be used until the number of contacts infected exceeds 1/5 of the contacts of the consignment.
  • Distance. Its effectiveness persists at 100% for 1 minute, then disappears over time until it reaches 0% (and not uniformly for all contacts). It can be renewed after 5 minutes. It prevents the virus from spreading, and appears on the screen with the nodes with a transparency equivalent to its level of effectiveness.
  • Mask. The same as the distance, only that it appears on the screen with the nodes with a border that disappears as the effectiveness decreases (and not uniformly for all the contacts).
  • TV Ads: They keep the effectiveness of the other aids for a while, but it costs points.

Possible improvements

  • Different countries with different rules (persistence times of the aids)
  • Different wallpapers where the contacts move.


My idea is to have something like the excelent game abstreet but for pandemics.
